Understanding Hair Transplant Surgery
Men and women who are experiencing hair loss have an option in a surgical procedure called hair transplant or hair restoration. Hair transplant today is something that a lot of people undergo and it a popular procedure The problem of balding with men and women is a very real problem and it is a distressing situation for them. One of the best options that these men and women can take is to undergo a surgical procedure so that their scalp will again make their hair grow.
In this type of surgical procedure, hair is taken from other parts of the body and transplanted to the top of the head. Surgeons use hairs from other parts including the excess hair that grows around the back and sides of the scalp. This part of the head is called a donor dominant hair and this is usually found in male when they start to bald. When this type of hair, the donor dominant hair, is transplanted to a balding part of the head, there is a very large chance that the hair will grow. The follicular unit hair treatment is the most successful transplantation method. This procedure is a lot better than transitional hair transplant methods. Because of the small incisions and accurate placements of hair follicles in this method, the result is hair that is thicker and closer together compared to what you get from the traditional hair transplant methods. Surgeons use microscope that are high powered in order to prepare and trim tissues. With this equipment, surgeons are able to place more grafts per square inch. A highly trained and skilled restoration surgeon carefully harvests the hair follicles.
Hair transplantation is an outpatient procedure where a person is given local anesthesia before surgery. Donor dominant patches on the body are used to harvest follicles and hair grow and these are divided into individual grafts. These grafts are then placed underneath the scalp where there is baldness and here the new hair will grow in time. The surgery takes long hours with a maximum time of eight hours and it cannot be completed in one setting, and this means that the patient has to return for more procedures until all the bald parts are covered. The surgeon will put as many grafts as are needing for the balding parts of your head.
There is no immediate results for hair transplant. The transplanted hair will not stay but will also fall off. When this happens the procedure did not fail but this is a normal occurrence. Hair fall will continue to happen until everything is gone but this is only due to the trauma experienced by the hair because of the transplant, but in a couple of months, the real hair will begin to grow from the transplanted follicles. You will experience normal hair growth and thickening in the next six months.
